Senior Correspondent: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has given instructions to look into the matter whether there is any plot of the country’s milk importers behind questioning local pasteurised milk.
She said, “A person suddenly examined milk and said that it is not consumable. Without any delay, a writ was filed. The court also banned the milk for five weeks.”
The premier said this while addressing a meeting of Awami League (AL) leaders and workers through a teleconference from London Tuesday morning.
The meeting, presided over by AL General Secretary Obaidul Quader, was held at the Awami League central office at Bangabandhu Avenue in the capital.
Besides the central leaders, leaders of AL North and South City units and its associate bodies and two mayors joined the meeting.
Sheikh Hasina said, “My question is why the poverty alleviation programme that we have, creating paths for common people to survive, are being opposed. I think it should be looked into whether there is any plot of importers behind this.”
She said, “Those give decision over the matter, they should think about it and look into it. Spreading any suddent rumour to interrupt export to question standard of country’s products tarnishes image of the country. So, those will spread rumours and fake information would face legal procedure.”
