South Korean PM arrives in Dhaka this afternoon

Diplomatic Correspondent: South Korean Prime Minister Lee Nak-yon arrives in Dhaka this afternoon (Saturday) on a three-day official visit.

The South Korean premier will arrive at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport by a special flight around 5.40pm.

Bangladesh foreign minister Dr A.K. Abdul Momen will receive Lee at the airport. After arrival in the capital on Saturday, Lee will attend a dinner hosted by representatives of the Korean community in Dhaka at InterContinental Dhaka.

During his visit, three memorandums of understanding (MoUs) are likely to be inked between Bangladesh and South Korea to enhance and strengthen the ties between Dhaka and Seoul, according to foreign ministry sources.

On Sunday morning, the Korean premier will go to the National Mausoleum to pay tributes to the memorial of Liberation War martyrs by placing wreaths.

After that, Lee will visit Youngone Hi-tech Sportswear industries Ltd at the Savar Export Processing Zone and the National Institute of Advanced Nursing Education and Research at Mugdapara in Dhaka.

Next, he will deliver a keynote speech at the Bangladesh-Korea Business Forum, organised by the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) and the Korea International Trade Association (KITA) at InterContinental Dhaka.

In the afternoon, Lee will hold a meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the Prime Minister’s Office. He will call on President M Abdul Hamid at Bangabhaban.

On the concluding day of his visit on Monday, Lee will pay homage to the memories of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing wreaths at his portrait at Bangabandhu Memorial Museum in Dhanmondi in the capital.
