Srijit nets two birds with one shot

Ending all speculation, Bangladeshi actress Rafiath Rashid Mithila and Indian director Srijit Mukherji tied the knot.

The marriage was solemnised through registry at Srijit’s South Kolkata flat on Friday evening (December 6).

Some friends and close relatives were present at the marriage ceremony.

Afterwards, Srijit faced media on ground floor of his residence when he was seen in happy mood.

At the time, Srijit said, “I had a very good relation with Bangladesh from before. Now, the relation got a new dimension through marrying Bangladeshi girl Mithila. It seems like netting two birds with one shot. Because my original home was in Bikrampur and Mymensingh. I feel good.”

Appreciating the hospitality of Bangladesh, he said, “It never makes any influence in me that Bangladesh is a separate country. I have many friends there and our language is also same.”

It was learnt that the couple will fly for Geneva this week for honeymoon.

Mithila and popular singer and actor Tahsan married each other in 2006. However, they got divorced in May 2017 ending their 11-year conjugal life.

Srijit had been in a relationship with Mithia for the last one year. Srijit first introduced Mithila to his friends at a private bash at the start of the year, reports Times of India.

Mithila, who began her modelling career in 2002, did her Master’s in political science from Dhaka University and completed her second Master’s in Early Childhood Development.

Being a theatre artiste and painter, she also carved a niche for herself in Bangladeshi television and has a considerable body of work in child development.
