Sunbeams School founder dies of coronavirus

Renowned educationist and founding principal of Sunbeams School, Niloufer Manzur, has passed away.

She breathed her last around 12.55am on Tuesday at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka.

She was the wife of Syed Manzur Elahi, former adviser to a caretaker government and chairman of Apex Footwear Ltd.

Son Syed Nasim Manzur, director of Apex Footwear Ltd, said his mother died while she was undergoing treatment at the CMH.

Earlier, he said his father Manzur Elahi and mother Niloufer Manzur had been infected with coronavirus.

Niloufer Manzur founded Sunbeams School in January 1974. She was daughter of late Dr Mafiz Ali Chowdhury, a former minister in Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's cabinet in 1972.
