‘Surveillance intensified to arrest Shahed across borders’

Members of law enforcement agencies have intensified surveillance across all borders in Moulvibazar to arrest owner of Regent Hospital and chairman of Regent Group Md Shahed alias Shahed Karim.

Officer in Charge (OC) of Sreemangal Police Station Abdus Salek confirmed the matter to risingbd on Tuesday (July 14).

“We conducted a drive to arrest Shahed all night long but could not trace him yet. Surveillance has been intensified across all borders of the district, even in resort and hotel motel,” the OC said.

Police have information that Shahed may have fled through Chatlapur border of Moulvibazar to India. On suspicion of that, police have intensified their activity and started searching vehicles in Shamshernagar area of Kamalganj upazila in the district, according to In-Charge of Shamshernagar Police Outpost Sub Inspector (SI) Arup Kumar Chowdhury.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Moinul Islam yesterday issued arrest warrant against Regent Group chairman Md Shahed in two separate cases filed against him over embezzlement of Tk 3.68 crore.
