TCB selling onion at Tk 45 kg

Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) started selling onion at Tk 45 per kg from Monday to control the overheated onion market.

The commodities will be sold for a week (September 30 (Monday) to October 07) in all cities of the country including Dhaka.

The sale will start at 10:00am and continue till 6:00pm every day.

Earlier, the state-owned trading corporation had sold onion by 16 trucks in city, according to TCB source.

TCB spokesman Md Humayun Kabir said, “TCB will sell several necessary commodities including onion by trucks across the country to control the market.”

He said, “People can buy onion at Tk 45 per kg, sugar at Tk 50 kg, lentil at Tk 50 kg and Soyabin oil at Tk 85 per litre.

A customer can buy maximum two kg onion, four kg sugar, 4 kg lentil and 5 litre Soyabin oil, he added.

The 33 spots where TCB products will be available in Dhaka city are: 1. The Secretariat gate,  2. Press Club, 3. Kaptan Bazar, 4. Victoria Park, 5. Science Lab intersection, 6. New Market/Nilkhet intersection, 7. Shyamoli/Kalyanpur, 8. Jhigatola intersection, 9. Khamarbari, 10. Kolmilota intersection, 11. Rajnighandha Super Market, Kachukhet, 12. Taltola, Agargaon and Election Commission (EC) office, 13. Rajlaxmi Complex, Uttara, 14. Mazar Road, Mirpur-1, 15. Shantinagar Bazar, 16. Malibag Bazar, 17, Basabo Bazar, 18. Ideal School, Banshree, 19. Bangladesh Bank premises, 20. Mohakhali vegitable market, 21. Shewrapara Bazar. 22. Dainik Bangla intersection, 23. Shahjahanpur Bazar. 24. Fakirapul Bazar and Ideal Zone. 25. Motijheel Heron Square,  26. Taltola Bazar, Khilgaon, 27. Rampura Bazar, 28. Mirpur-10 no Square, 29. Ashkona Haji camp, 30. Mohammadpur Town Hall vegetable market, 31. Dilkusha, 32. Madartek Nandipara Krishi Bank premises, 33. Palashi intersection.

Besides, TCB distributors will sell products at 35 spots in Dhaka Metropolitan areas while 10 spots in Chattogram and five spots in every other city of the country.
