Teesta deal to be signed this year

Indian Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla has said that India and Bangladesh may ink a pact on Teesta water sharing this year.
He said this while delivering his speech at a seminar on ‘Bangladesh and India: A Promising Future’ at Sonargaon Hotel in the city on Monday.
Bangladesh Institute for International Studies (BISS) hosted the event.
“The two countries are interested to sign a pact on Teesta water sharing and we are working to collect data in this regard. The deal may be signed this year”, Shringla said.
Prime Minister's International Affairs Adviser Dr Gowher Rizvi spoke as the chief guest highlighting the relationship between the two countries.
He laid emphasis on water sharing issues and protecting the secular values.
BIISS Chairman Ambassador Fazlul Karim and Indian High Commissioner Riva Ganguly Das, among others, spoke.
