Trade Fair closed today

Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF) will remain closed today (January 10) as the countdown to Mujib Borsho-- celebrating the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman-- is set to begin formally this afternoon.

Abdur Rauf, deputy director of Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) and also the fair member, said, "The DITF will remain closed today as the countdown to Mujib Borsho will start this afternoon."

The countdown parade will start today around 3:00pm at the old airport where the airplane carrying Bangabandhu landed on his return to an independent Bangladesh in 1972 from Pakistan.

On January 10, 1972, Bangabandhu returned to an independent Bangladesh via London and New Delhi, after 290 days of confinement in Pakistan jail.

On January 1, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the 25th Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF) at Sher-E-Bangla Nagar, adjacent to Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC), in the capital.
