The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court (SC) will deliver its verdict tomorrow (Thursday) on an appeal filed by war criminal ATM Azharul Islam challenging his death sentence.
A four-member Appellate Division bench headed by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain will pronounce the judgement.
The appeal is on the top of Thursday’s cause list of the Appellate Division.
Concluding hearing on the appeal, the four-member Appellate Division bench on July 10 last kept the verdict as CAV (Curia Advisari Vult), a Latin term that suggests reserving of judgment until a later time.
The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court (SC) on June 18 started hearing on the appeal filed by ATM Azharul Islam.
On December 30, 2014, International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1, sentenced Rangpur Al Badr Bahini commander ATM Azharul Islam to death for his crimes against humanity in 1971.
