Transparency International chair José Carlos Ugaz addressing the press conference.

Staff Correspondent: Visiting Transparency International (TI) chair José Carlos Ugaz said, “We are not the enemy of the government, we are the enemy of the corrupt people and over all enemy to corruption. We want to help the government in anti-corruption activities.”

The TI chief said this while addressing a press conference at the conference room of Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban at Dhaka University on Monday afternoon.

Ugaz said he has got an impression through media reports that the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) is now working hard to prevent and combat corruption in the country.

The Commission should strengthen collaboration with international anti-graft bodies in different countries, he added.

The TI chair assured that his organisation will provide all technical supports to the ACC to increase its capacity to fight corruption.

Prime Minister’s International Affairs Adviser Gowher Rizvi, ACC Chairman Iqbal Mahmud, TIB Trusty Board Chairman Sultana Kamal were, among others, present at the function.
