We will protect country’s independence: Dr Kamal

Staff Correspondent, Savar: Dr Kamal Hossain, a key leader of the opposition alliance Jatiya Oikyafront, said, “Anyone conspiring against the independence of the country will be thwarted unitedly.”

He came up with the remark while talking to reporters after paying tributes to the martyrs of the Liberation War in 1971 by placing wreaths at the National Memorial in Savar on Sunday morning on the occasion of the 48th Victory Day of the country.

“We got independence. We are fighting for liberation. We are still fighting for it and will have to fight more. Democracy is absent in our country. We have strengthened our unity after being united. We will have to protect the independence with the united force that we had during the War of Liberation,” said Dr Kamal, also president of Gonoforum.

“We earned the independence of the country in exchange of the sacrifice of millions of valuable lives. We should pay our respects to the Liberation War heroes coming here at the National Memorial in Savar on the Victory Day. On this day, our oath should be to evaluate the independence properly,” he said.
