Why child rapists shouldn’t be hanged, HC issues rule

The High Court (HC) has issued a rule asking the authority concern as to why child rapists should not be awarded to death sentence.

The HC bench of Justice FRM Nazmul Ahsan and Justice KM Kamrul Kader on Sunday came up with the rule after hearing on a writ petition filed this connection.

Barrister Rabiya Bhuiyan moved for the petition while Deputy Attorney General Abdullah Al-Mahmud Bashar represented the state.

Mentionable, the existing law provides life-term imprisonment to rapists.
