Woman’s hand severed as truck hit

Senior Correspondent: A woman lost her right hand as a speedy truck hit her with a road-side pole in the capital’s Hajaribag area on Sunday morning.

The victim was known as Shaheda Akter. Her sister Rahima was also injured in the accident.

They both were taken to National Orthopedic Hospital immediately.

Police could neither hold truck nor the driver till the report was filed at the noon.

Ekram Ali, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Hajaribag Police Station, said, “I heard about the accident. Nobody has yet come with allegation in this regard.”

Injured Rahima told media that she along with her sister Shaheda was going on foot to office in the morning. Suddenly, a speedy truck hit them with a road-side pillar, leaving Shaheda’s right hand severed. Her hand was also broken in the accident.

The victims and their family members demanded justice and compensation over the incident.
