Yaba smuggler killed in ‘gunfight’ in Chattogram

An alleged Yaba pills smuggler has been killed in a gunfight with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Beribadh area in Chattogram.

Identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.

RAB-7 assistant director (media) Mahmudul Hasan Mamun confirmed the matter on Saturday noon.

According to RAB media wing, acting on secret information that a huge number of Yaba pills are being smuggled through sea route, RAB conducted a drive in the area this morning.  Meanwhile, Yaba traders opened fire aiming RAB check post which triggered the gunfight, leaving a drug smuggler dead on the spot.

Later, one lakh pieces of Yaba pills, a pistol, a local made gun, a magazine and six rounds of bullets were received from the spot.
