Youth held in Patuakhali over Rifat murder

Patuakhali Correspondent: Police have held a youth on suspicion of his involvement in the much-talked Rifat Sharif murder in Barguna.

Cops of Amtoli Police Station held him conducting a drive in a house near Patuakhali Government Girls’ School early Saturday.

The detainee was known as Saimun, son of businessman Kawsar Mia of Hajarbigha area of Stadium road of the town and a third-year student of Management Department of Barguna Government College.

He is husband of daughter of Abdul Mannan Mia, joint general secretary of Patuakhali district Awami League.

Abul Bashar, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Amtoli Police Station, confirmed the news.

He said, “He was held after tracking mobile SIM card of Rabbi, who was involved in Rifat murder and a fugitive of the case filed in this connection.”

He, however, said, “Saimun claimed himself not guilty.”
