Staff Correspondent: The youth who was killed in a ‘gunfight’ with Detectives at Pirerbag of the capital’s Mirpur area has been known as Hassan Mahmud, the main suspect of DB Inspector Md Jalal Uddin murder.
Hassan’s body was kept at the morgue of Dhaka Medicial College and Hospital (DMCH) for autopsy.
Mohammad Yousuf Mia, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (media), confirmed the news to risingbd.
He said, “The youth, who was killed in a ‘gunfight’ with Detectives Branch (DB) of Police at Shapla Housing area of Pirerbag in the capital Mirpur around 2:00am on Friday, has been identified as Hassan. He was the main suspect of DB Inspector Jalal Uddin murder case. DB men also conducted the drive to nab him on that night when Jalal was shot to death.”
A DB man who took part in the drive said three pistols were recovered from the spot. Of which, two were stolen from houses of two police members on January 11. On that night, a DB team conducted a drive to seize smuggling goods from Pirerbag. Detectives are working to arrest other accused of the case.”
Meanwhile, no relatives of Hassan came to the hospital morgue. Autopsy was not yet completed as magistrate did not reach there. It might be completed on Saturday, according to sources of morgue.
On March 19, Jalal was shot in the head when he went to raid a three-storey house (House: 105/A/1) of Pirerbag of the capital near Alimuddin School where criminals were hiding.
Duty doctors declared him when he was taken to the Square Hospitals of West Panthapath area in the capital.
