Gold price drops day after hiking tariff

Bangladesh Jeweler’s Association (BAJUS) has reduced the price of gold by Tk 1,750 to Tk 1,10,691 per bhori (11.664 grams).
BAJUS standing committee took the decision at a meeting on Thursday (January 18), a day after the announcement of a price hike for precious metals.
Earlier, on Wednesday, the trade body increased the gold price by Tk 1,400 per bhori.
According to a press release, the rate will come into effect on Friday.
Meanwhile, the price of 21-carat gold has become Tk 1,05,676 per bhori, 18-carat Tk 90,571 per bhori, and gold of traditional method Tk 75,466 per bhori.
