Govt will not hike sugar price

The government has finally decided not to increase price of sugar, considering the people’s purchasing capacity.

Senior officers of industries ministry informed this to risingbd on Thursday night.

Earlier, Bangladesh Sugar and Food Industry Corporation (BSFIC) has announced that they will increase the retail price of sugar by Tk 20 per kg. As a result, per kg sugar will be sold at Tk 160. 

BSFIC issued a circular in this regard on Thursday (February 22). According to the circular, the price of sugar has been re-fixed in line with the international and domestic market prices. The government's cooperation is needed to control the sugar market during Ramadan.
