Masrur Reaz appointed chairman of BSEC

Prominent economist and public policy expert M Masrur Reaz has been appointed as the new chairman of the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC).
The Financial Institutions Division of the Ministry of Finance issued a notification signed by deputy secretary Farida Yeasmin in this regard on Tuesday (August 13).
Talking to risingbd, Mr Reaz said, “A gazette has been issued. I will join tomorrow. We all will work together for the development of the share market. Keep me in your prayers.”
Mr Reaz will replace Prof Shibli Rubayat-Ul Islam, who resigned on Saturday (August 10) -- five days after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina stepped down in the wake of a mass uprising.
Dr Reaz is the chairman & CEO of Policy Exchange Bangladesh, a private think tank. He worked as a Senior Economist in the Finance, Competitiveness, and Innovation (FCI) Global Practice of the World Bank Group (WBG) where he served for ten years during 2010-2020.
