ADP size being curtailed by Tk 65000 crore

The size of the Annual Development Program (ADP) is being reduced. From the size of ADP, Tk 65,000 crore is likely to be reduced.

This initiative is being taken as part of reducing government expenditure, according to sources associated with the Ministry of Planning and Finance.

According to sources, a decision is being taken to reduce the ADP by Tk 65,000 crore, taking into account the existing situation. As a result, the size of ADP will stand at Tk 200,000 crore. It is appropriate to note that in the current fiscal year 2024-2025, the size of ADP is Tk 265,000 crore.

According to sources, this ADP was formulated during the previous government. As a result, there are many politically motivated projects in the existing ADP. The interim government will no longer implement these schemes now. As a result, a lot of money will be saved from here.

Preliminary discussions on ADP project are already underway with the relevant officials of several ministries. The less important projects are being looked into against these ministries. In particular, the allocation of infrastructure projects like electricity and roads will be reduced or the allocation will be suspended.

According to an official of the Ministry of Finance, the budget deficit for the current fiscal year is 4.6 percent. Now efforts are being made to bring this deficit down to 4 percent. To achieve this goal, the budget must be reduced. And budget cuts mean reducing ADP spending. We want to reduce about Tk 650,000 crore from the original ADP. How much the ADP size will decrease can be confirmed within this month.
