Inflation rises in October

According to the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS), the inflation rate rose to 10.87 percent in October this year.
The inflation increased due to rising prices of food items, especially rice and vegetables.
It was the highest in three months in October. Earlier, the overall consumer inflation was 9.92 percent in September and 10.49 percent in August.
According to the agency, the food inflation rose to 12.66 percent in October, which was 10.40 percent in July.
Inflation of non-food items stood at 9.34 percent in October, which was 9.5 percent a month ago.
Bangladesh has been battling with increasingly high inflation for almost two years. Overall inflation has been above 9 percent since March 2023. This has affected the low and fixed income group of people.
