Shipping industry growing: Adviser

Advisor to the Ministry of Shipping Brigadier General (retd) Dr. M Sakhawat Hussain has said the country’s maritime and offshore industry is growing in the country, and it is now able to tap huge opportunities.
He made the remark while inaugurating the 6th edition of International Exhibition titled “Bangladesh International Marine and Offshore Expo (BIMOX 2024)” incorporating “Ship Building”, “Ship Recycling”, “Offshore Oil & Gas Support”, “Shipping, Logistic & Port”, “Fishing Vessels, Fishery”, “Process Automation” at International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) in the city on Thursday.
“Bangladesh will be a real shipbuilding nation. Now we need collaboration among experts and other stakeholders to grow the industry. We are now very transparent, he said.
He urged the local and foreign investors to invest in the country's maritime and offshore industry to tap huge opportunities of the sector.
Besides, Rear Admiral Khandakar Akhter Hossain, Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (M), Bangladesh Navy; Christian Brix Moller, Ambassador of the Royal Danish Embassy in Dhaka and André Carstens, Head of Mission of Embassy of the Kingdom of Netherlands in Dhaka, among others, were present on the occasion.
The exhibition will continue till November 09, 2024 from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm every day.
In this exhibition, Companies from 15 different countries including Bangladesh have given stunning views of their products, technologies and services in more than 180 booths.
A large number of visitors found experiencing the exhibition.
