Massive investment needed to ensure energy security 

South Asian Network on Economic Modeling (SANEM), a private research organization, has suggested that massive investment is needed in the green and clean energy sector in a bid to ensure the country's energy security.

The organization has also recommended public-private partnerships, green bonds and financing from international organizations such as the World Bank, Asian Development Bank and Green Climate Fund.

SANEM organized a national-level dialogue titled ‘Exploring a Sustainable Pathway for Bangladesh’s Energy Transformation Towards Green and Clean Energy’ at the BRAC Center in the capital on Saturday (November 23).

The results of three SANEM studies were presented at the event. The dialogue was presided over by Dr. Selim Raihan, Professor of the Economics Department at Dhaka University and Executive Director of SANEM. 

SANEM Senior Research Associate Md. Tuhin Ahmed and Research Associate Ekramul Hasan presented the research results at the dialogue.

The first study, titled ‘Macroeconomic Impact of Fuel Price: A Bangladeshi Perspective’, the impact of global fossil fuel price changes on the macroeconomics of Bangladesh’.
