Record amount of remittance arrived in December 

In the month of December in 2024, Bangladesh received 263.90 crore dollars as remittance, which is the highest in the country's history. 

Never before has such a large amount of remittance arrived in a single month. An average of 8.51 crore dollars as remittances arrived in the country every day in December.

This information was revealed in the updated report of Bangladesh Bank on Wednesday (January 1).

According to the report, 263.90 crore US dollars came to the country in December last year. In the same period of the previous year it was 199.10 crore US dollars came.

Earlier, the highest remittance in the country's history came in July of 2020. In that month, expatriates sent 259.82 crore dollars in remittances to the country. However, this time that record has been broken.

Remittance inflow made a new record in 2024 in the history of Bangladesh when migrant workers and non-resident Bangladeshis sent home nearly $27 billion.

The amount was also 23 percent higher than the previous year, according to data released by the Bangladesh Bank.
