The country’s leading electronics and ICT products manufacturer Walton has been rewarded with Digital Bangladesh Award as the recognition of its remarkable contribution in the development and progress of the country through manufacturing and exporting ICT hardware.
Walton achieved the award under the 'Best ICT Hardware Exporter' category at the '3rd Digital Bangladesh Day-2019' celebration held at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in the capital on Wednesday.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina handed over the crest of Digital Bangladesh Award to Walton Digi-Tech Industries Limited’s Chairman SM Rezaul Alam.
The premier also launched 'My Gov' mobile app using a Walton brand smartphone manufactured in Bangladesh.
The award-giving ceremony was also attended, among others, by State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak, Parliamentary Standing Committee on Post, Telecommunication and ICT Ministry’s Chairman A.K.M. Rahmatullah, ICT Division’s Senior Secretary NM Ziaul Alam and Walton Computer Department’s Chief Executive Officer Liakat Ali.
It may be mentioned that Walton has been earning immense goodwill at home and abroad through manufacturing, marketing and exporting high standard electronics and ICT devices in Bangladesh.
Recently, the local multinational company started the RAM (Random Access Memory) production within Bangladesh. The opening of RAM manufacturing unit created a new era in the local ICT manufacturing industry. Now, Walton has taken an initiative of establishing processor manufacturing industry in Bangladesh.
