Quota protesters refuse to leave halls

Students at Dhaka University have rejected the decision to close the campus and refused to vacate residential halls.
Dhaka University has been declared closed for an indefinite period. The university authorities also ordered the students to vacate the dormitories by 6:00 pm today (July 17). But the students have staged demonstration rejecting the decision of the varsity.
Wishing anonymity, a teacher of the syndicate meeting said that considering the security issue of students amid quota protest, the authority asked the students to leave campus.
Nahid Islam, the coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, said that they are rejecting the decision of the university. They will not step into any conspiracy to thwart their logical movement. He also said that all the students are united about not leaving the hall.
To avert any untoward situations, additional law enforcers were deployed in Shahbagh, Nilkhet, TSC, Doel Chattar and DU campus area.
