Woman killed during clash with police in Gazipur

A female worker was killed in a clash between employees protesting for pay raise and police in Gazipur's Konabari on Wednesday (November 8).

The deceased was identified as Anjuara Khatun, 30, daughter of Md Mantu Mia. She was a stitch machine operator at Islam Garment in Konabari. She hailed from Chargirish area of Kazipara in Sirajganj.

Jamal Hossain, husband of the victim said his wife died around 10:30 am today.

Gazipur Metropolitan Konabari police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) AKM Ashraf Uddin confirmed the matter.

Gazipur Metropolitan police commissioner Mahbub Alam said the workers of Standard, Swadhin and Islam Garments in Zorun area of Gazipur metropolis tried to vandalize various factories. Later they locked into a clash with the police forces. Meanwhile, a woman and a man worker were injured seriously.
