12 get life term for murder during robbery in Gopalganj

A court in Gopalganj has sentenced 12 robbers to life term imprisonment in a case filed for killing a woman while robbing in 2010.
Gopalganj Additional District and Sessions Judge Court Judge Maksudur Rahman passed the verdict on Wednesday (November 8) in presence of three convicts.
The lifers are Minto Sheikh, 25, Liton alias Alam, 32, Tutul Mir, 23, Kabir Sheikh, 28, Mafujal Bishwas alias Masud, 32, Kakali Begum, 22, Shimu alias Shima, 25, Zahangir Talukder alias Babu Talukder, 35, Rafiqul Fakir, 32, Mazi, 35, Tara Mia Sheikh alias Taher, 28, and Molam Sheikh, 40. They are the residents of Gopalganj, Faridpur and Madaripur.
According to the case documents, a group of robbers on November 3, 2010, entered the house of Sirajul Islam, a retired officer of Bangladesh railway and resident of Chandibardi village in Muksudpur upazila.
They looted money and gold ornaments keeping family members at gunpoint. They hacked Sirajul with a sharp weapon while he was obstructing the robbers. They also hacked his daughter Shawon when she tried to save her father, leaving her dead.
Sirajul filed a murder case with the Muksudpur police station the following day. Police submitted a charge sheet against 14 people after a long investigation.
Babul Sardar and Deen Islam died in trial period among the accused.
