Garment workers-police clashes in Gazipur again

Garment workers demonstrated in different places of Gazipur on Thursday, rejecting the government announced monthly minimum wage of Tk 12,500.
They also locked into clashes with policemen in phases.
The workers chanted slogans rejecting the government announced monthly minimum wage and demanded to increase the miniumum wage to Tk 23,000 per month.
Meanwhile, several garment factories announced closure on Thursday following the unrest and the death of a female garment worker on Wednesday.
Garment workers have been demonstrating since October 23, demanding increasing their basic salary.
The government on Tuesday fixed Tk 12,500 as the minimum salary for entry-level RMG workers.
