Lights stolen from Bakkhali Bridge after inauguration

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the much-expected Bakkhali Bridge in Cox’s Bazar and 16 more development projects yesterday (November 11). However, 12 lights of the bridge were stolen allegedly after the inauguration.
Jahedul Islam, a security guard in the bridge area said the bridge was opened to the public after the inauguration. But miscreants stole 12 lights from two sides of the bridge. Later, the authority removed the rest of the lights fearing of theft again. Currently, the bridge is closed.
Following the issue, LGED Cox’s Bazar executive engineer Md Mamun Khan told risingbd that he has heard the matter. Details can be said later.
Cox’s Bazar Sadar police station OC Md Rakibuzzaman said, “We didn’t receive any complaint yet regarding the issue.”
Earlier, the Primer inaugurated 596 m Long PC Box Girder Bridge on Bankkhali River. The construction cost of this 596-meter-long bridge is Taka 259 crore.
