Khokon Serniabat to take charge as Barishal mayor today

The newly elected mayor of Barishal City Corporation (BCC), Khokon Serniabat, will formally take office today (November 14).

A welcoming ceremony has been organized in front of the Nagar Bhaban in the city.

Lashkar Nurul Haque, head of the office of Mayor Khokon Serniabat's election management committee and former president of the District Bar Association said the city corporation will welcome its mayor today. Awami League will provide assistance in the function to avert any untoward situation.

Acting Chief Executive Officer of Barishal City Corporation will give maiden speech in the program. Considering the sufferings of people, the function will be closed before 2:00pm.

Barishal Metropolitan Police Commissioner Md Saiful Islam said that all types of necessary steps were taken to ensure security in the program. Additional police forces were deployed there.

Earlier, the City Corporation election was held on 12 June 2023. A total of 276,298 people casted their votes in 894 booths of 126 polling stations in the BCC election.
