Maritime ports asked to hoist signal 3

Maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep local cautionary signal no three hoisted as the depression over the west-central Bay and adjoining area moved north-east and intensified into a deep depression.
The deep depression over Bay of Bengal triggered drizzle in Patuakhali and adjacent coastal areas.
According to a weather update, the depression was centered at 6am on Thursday (November 16) about 785km southwest of Chittagong port, 745 km southwest of Cox’s Bazar port, 655 km southwest of Mongla port and 655 km southwest of Payra port.
It is likely to intensify and move north-east ward further. Under its influence deep convection is taking place over north Bay.
All fishing boats and trawlers in North Bay and deep sea have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice. They are also advised not to venture into the deep sea.
Patuakhali district weather office’s in-charge Mahbuba Sukhi said the depression turned into a deep depression. The depression is likely to intensify further.
