Red alert in Ctg port: vessels asked to go to deeper sea

Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) issued Alert 3 this noon after the Met office advised ports to hoist danger signal 7 due to cyclonic storm "Midhili".

Omar Faruk, a secretary at Chattogram Port Authority confirmed the matter.

Earlier this morning, the maritime ports of Mongla and Payra were advised to hoist danger signal No 7 while Chattogram and Cox’s Bazar danger signal No 6. Following this, 22 big water vessels asked to go to deeper sea.

Deputy Commissioner Abul Bashar Md Fakhruzzaman said 609 cyclone shelters were kept ready to tackle the situation.
