Cyclone Midhili: Sarail’s 8 unions still without power

Residents of eight unions under Sarail upazila of Brahmanbaria are still without electricity under the influence of cyclone Midhili, causing huge suffering to the ordinary people.
Electricity did not reach the unions till filing this report around 12:30 pm on Saturday (November 18).
Chunta Union Parishad chairman Humayun Kabir said, “The electricity was unavailable from early Friday due to the cyclone.”
Shahbazpur Union Parishad chairman Shairul Huda Chowdhury said residents in the area are facing huge suffering due to the unavailability of electricity.
Abdur Rauf, Executive Engineer (Sales and Distribution Division) of Sarail upazila office of Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB), said the entire upazila encountered the problem due to the influence of cyclone Midhili. However, electricity connection has been restored in the Sadar upazila.
He hopes that electricity connection will be restored to the entire upazila by this afternoon.
