Terming the Gazipur train derailment as not an ordinary accident, Gazipur Deputy Commissioner (DC) Abul Fate Muhammad Safiqul Islam said rail lines were cut in order to carry out sabotage activities.
“This is not an ordinary accident. Rail lines were cut in order to carry out sabotage activities. Reaching the spot, we found gas cylinder. Miscreants have used the gas cylinder to cut rail lines,” he said after visiting the spot on Wednesday (December 13) noon.
The deputy commissioner said, “We have already formed an investigation committee over train derailment in Gazipur. Culprits involved in the incident will be brought under the purview of law.”
Earlier, a man was killed and at least seven others were injured after a passenger train derailed at Bhawal Railway Station on the Joydebpur-Mymensingh rail route in Gazipur around 4:15am on Wednesday.
