EC cancels candidacy of Sadiq Abdullah

The Election Commission (EC) has cancelled the candidacy of Barishal-5 constituency aspirant and Metropolitan Awami League general secretary Serniabat Sadiq Abdullah.

The EC made the announcement on Friday morning (December 15).

Earlier, Awami League-backed candidate Colonel (retd) Zahid Faruk filed a petition with the EC demanding the candidacy cancellation of Sadiq Abdullah.

Sources said Sadiq Abdullah and his wife hid information about his wealth in the affidavit. Besides, he is a dual citizen.

Barishal metropolitan Awami League joint secretary general Hasan Mahamud Babu said an appeal will be filed with the high court in this regard.
