Two electrocuted while hanging national flag

Two people have died from electrocution in Gazipur’s Tongi while hanging national flag.

The incident took place at an under-construction building of IFL Ltd Garment in BSCIC area on Saturday morning.

The deceased were identified as Aynal, 35, a security guard who hailed from Naogaon, and Ashraful, 45, a construction worker who hailed from Gaibandha.

According to local residents, Aynal and Ashraful contacted the electricity when they touched an iron rod on the ground floor of the building to hang a national flag at around 7:30am. The duo were then fell onto the ground.

Other workers rescued and took Aynal and Ahsraful to Shaheed Ahsan Ullah Master General Hospital but they were declared dead by the on-duty doctors on arrival.

Officer-in-charge of Tongi East Thana Mostafizur Rahman confirmed the news.
