Rohingya man shot dead in Ukhiya camp

A Rohingya youth was shot dead in a refugee camp in Ukhiya upazila of Cox’s Bazar on Thursday (December 21) morning.

The deceased was identified as Abdullah, son of Amin and a resident of C Block of Camp 17, said Shamim Hossain, officer-in-charge (OC) of Ukhiya Police Station.

A group of 7/8 unidentified miscreants broke into Abdullah’s house and took him out of the house at gun point. Later, he was shot on the road, OC Shamim said.

With critical injuries, he was rushed to a hospital in the camp, where doctors declared him dead.

The body was later sent to Cox’s Bazar Sadar hospital morgue for autopsy, the OC added.

The OC said the murder might have taken place over establishing supremacy in the camp.
