Hand-bombs hurled at independent candidate’s procession, 10 injured

At least 10 people were injured as at least 50 hand-bombs were hurled at the procession of independent candidate for Madaripur-3 constituency Tahmina Begum on Thursday afternoon.
The incident took place at around 5:00pm at Lakshmipur under Kalkini upazila in Madaripur district.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) Kalkini Thana Md Nazmul Hasan confirmed the news.
According to sources, supporters of Tahmina Begum brought out a procession for eagle symbol, but supporters of Awami League candidate Abdus Sobhan Mia Golap obstructed them. Later, at least 50 hand-bombs were exploded.
Being informed, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
Several injured have been admitted to Madaripur Sadar Hospital.
