2 killed in Barishal bus-trolley collision

Two people were killed and seven others injured when a bus collided head-on with a trolley in Barishal on Sunday (December 24) morning.

The incident took place on Dhaka-Barishal highway at Natun Shikarpur area in Wazirpur upazila of the district around 6:30am.

The deceased were identified as trolley driver Sohrab Kobiraj, and his helper Rubel Hawlader. Both were residents of Wazirpur upazila.

Jafar Ahmed, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Wazirpur Police Station, said the accident occurred when a bus of Sakura Paribahan heading towards Dhaka from Barishal collided head-on with a trolley (three-wheeler) coming from the opposite direction, leaving two people dead on the spot and seven others injured.

The OC also said the bodies were recovered. The ill-fated bus and the trolley were also seized.
