Presiding officer to be sacked if any fake vote cast: EC Habib

Election Commissioner Brigadier General (retd) Ahsan Habib Khan has said that the presiding officer will be sacked if one single fake vote is cast at any polling center.

The Election Commissioner made the warning while speaking at a view-exchange meeting with candidates, election officers and the law enforcement agencies at the office of Pirojpur Deputy Commissioner on Tuesday (December 26).

“The returning officer must take responsibility inside the polling centres during Bangladesh's next general election and if he or she fails to stop fake votes, the presiding officer  will be sacked”, he said.

“The assistant presiding officer, polling officer, agents, and government employees will also be dismissed from their jobs wherever fake votes are cast,” the commissioner said.
