Fire at Gazipur UP office

A fire broke out at a union parishad office in Gazipur sadar upazila early Wednesday (January 3).
The fire incident took place at the office of Pirujali Union Parishad around 12:30 am.
Locals said that they found a fire suddenly at Pirujali Union Parishad office at night. Later, they first tried to douse the blaze and informed fire service. Being informed, two units of Joydebpur Fire Service arrived at the scene and brought the fire under control.
Although the fire was brought under control, all the furniture, some computers and all the necessary documents were burnt in the fire inside the office.
Chairman of the Pirujali Union Parishad Jalal Uddin, said, “The locals first tried to douse the fire. Then fire service team reached the spot after being informed and brought the blaze under control. But everything inside the office was burnt in the fire. It is being assumed that the fire may have originated from an electrical short circuit.”
Gazipur Fire Service Assistant Deputy Director Abdullah Al Arefin said on information, two units of Joydebpur Fire Station rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control after an hour of efforts.
The reason behind the fire and extent of damages could be known after an investigation, he added.
