Section-144 imposed at 2 spots in Jhenaidah

Jhenaidah district administration has imposed Section-144 in two places, fearing that law and order situation may deteriorate centring election rallies in the district.

Section-144 was imposed on the district town’s Wazir Ali School and College, Water Development Board ground and surrounding area as the candidates of Boat and Eagle symbols in Jhenaidah-2 seat called public rallies at the same place at the same time.

Section-144 will come into effect on Thursday (January 4) from 12:00 pm to 07:00 pm.  

Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate of Jhenaidah SM Rafiqul Islam issued the order in this regard on Thursday (January 4) morning.

According to the order, the independent candidate of Jhenaidah-2 seat, Nasser Shahriar Zahedi of Eagle symbol, called an election rally in different wards including Wazir Ali School ground in the town. At the same time, Tahjeeb Alam Siddiqui, candidate for the boat symbol and running MP, called a public meeting on water development board ground of the town. There is a fear of deterioration of the law and order situation in the town. As a result, their meetings, processions and meetings were banned by issuing section-144.
