Independent candidate’s supporter killed in Mathbaria clash

Jahangir Panchaet, 51, a supporter of an independent candidate, has been killed by his rivals in Mathbaria of Pirojpur.

He died at around 7:30am on Thursday while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Jahangir Panchaet was the son of Totashor Panchaet at Badura village under Mirukhali union, and supporter of independent candidate Shamim Shanewaz.

He was injured in a clash with a supporter of another independent candidate Dr Rustum Ali Farazi.

Officer-in-Charge of Mathbaria Thana Shafikul Islam confirmed the news.
