Cracks form on Sundarban-16 launch in the Meghna

The bottom of Sundarban-16 launch cracked after hitting the passenger vessel in Meghna River in Chandpur on Thursday night (January 4).

Over 500 home-bound passengers narrowly escaped a major blow as they were evacuated in time after the incident.

Chandpur river police super Mohammad Kamruzzaman said both the launch and cargo ships were damaged due to the accident.

The launch is kept at a char in Ekhlaspur in the district, he added.

Sundarban-16 launch Supervisor Siraz said the passengers were shifted to another launch. Meanwhile, couple of passengers received injuries.
