AL wins 3 of 4 seats in Cox’s Bazar

Awami League (AL) nominated candidates won three seats and Kallyan Party one in Cox’s Bazar in the 12th parliamentary elections.
Cox’s Bazar returning officer also Deputy Commissioner Shahin Imran announced the names of winners on Sunday night (January 7).
According to Election Commission (EC), AL candidate Ashek Ullah Rafiq (Boat) bagged 97,398 votes and elected unofficially in Cox’s Bazar-2 (Maheshkhali-Kutubdia) constituency. His nearest Bangladesh Nationalist Movement (BNM) candidate Sharif Badsha (Anchor) got 6,070 votes.
Shaimum Sarwar (Boat) got 167,029 votes and won in Cox’s Bazar-3 (Sadar-Ramu-Eidgaon) seat. His nearest aspirant Barrister Mizan Sayeed got 21,946 votes. However, Barrister Mizan quit the polls.
Awami League candidate Shahin Akter bagged 125,725 votes and elected unofficially in Cox’s Bazar-4 (Ukhiya-Teknaf) constituency. Her nearest candidate Teknaf upazila Awami League president Nurul Bashar got 29,929 votes.
Besides, Bangladesh Kallyan Party chairman Syed Muhammad Ibrahim bagged 81,955 votes and won in Cox’s Bazar-1. His nearest candidate Jafar Alam (Truck) got 52,896 votes.
