Flight operations at Nilphamari's Saidpur Airport remained suspended for one and a half hour since this morning (Wednesday 10) due to poor visibility caused by dense fog.
More than two hundred Dhaka-bound passengers are stranded at the airport. However, the authority said that there is no fear of cancellation of any flight.
Lokman Hakim, in-charge of the airport's Met office, said the entire Saidpur city has been covered in thick fog since midnight. At 12 noon the visual limit on the runway of the airport was 600 meters. That is not enough to take off flights.
Suplab Kumar Ghosh, manager of Saidpur Airport, said that due to dense fog, flight operations were disrupted. As a result, three flights of US-Bangla, NovoAir and Bangladesh Biman did not take off from Dhaka the Airport.
