Ferry services on Aricha-Kazirhat route halted

Ferry operations on the Aricha-Kazirhatr routes have been suspended due to dense fog.

Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) on Friday midnight (January 12) took the step to avoid accident following poor visibility.

BIWTC Aricha Deputy General Manager (DGM) Shah Mohammad Khaled Newaz said dense fog started to develop soon after Thursday evening. A ferry named “Shah Ali” got stuck in the middle of the river due to poor visibility at 12:00am.

The authorities will resume the services when visibility improves, he added.
