4.5kg gold seized at Ctg airport

Members of Customs Intelligence & Investigation Directorate (CIID) and National Security Intelligence (NSI) in a drive seized over 4.5 kilograms of gold ornament at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram on Saturday (January 13) morning.

The gold ornaments were found under a passenger seat of a flight Biman Bangladesh Airlines coming from Sharjah.

Based on secret information, NSI and Customs department officials conducted a raid in the flight (BG-152) around 9am and recovered the gold in an abandoned state, according to officials.

However, none was arrested in this connection.

The estimate market value of the seized gold is approximately Tk 3 crore 89 lakh 71 thousands 360.

A process to take legal action in this regard is underway, the officials said.
