Ferry capsize: Protai joins rescue operation

Salvage vessel Protai has joined the operation to rescue the ferry Rajanigandha that sank at Paturia terminal with vehicles on Wednesday.

The salvage vessel reached at around 2:15pm on Friday.

Salvage vessel Hamza is trying to recover vehicles from Friday morning, but till 3:30pm no vehicle was recovered.
Another salvage vessel Rustam is ready to join the rescue operation.

Humayun Kabir, second driver of the ferry who has remained missing, has not been traced yet.

Shah Md Khaled Newaz, Aricha office DGM, Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA), said salvage vessel Protai and divers are conducting rescue operation.
